Procurement guidance · Updated 29 October 2026 · Manufacturer references identify product context; offered lots and system suitability require separate review.
Direct answer
Check lifecycle at the exact manufacturer order-code level and retain the review date. A shortage, old date code or limited distributor availability does not itself mean a part has been discontinued. Likewise, a manufacturer Active label does not guarantee material can be delivered for a particular build.
Technical and purchasing context
The Semtech directory currently lists SX1276 as Active; the phrase “obsolete SX1276 sourcing” should not be used as a blanket technical statement. Within other wireless portfolios, older ordering suffixes can be discouraged for new designs while later variants remain listed. Lifecycle review therefore belongs to the actual orderable item, not only the family name.
Procurement risks
Historical PDFs, cached stock listings and unsourced replacement tables can describe different points in time. A notice may apply to selected package or packing variants rather than an entire architecture. Last-time-buy, last shipment and product discontinuation are separate milestones; confirm each in the manufacturer notice instead of treating them as equivalent.
Verification checklist
- Complete MPN and package variant
- Manufacturer status and notice date
- Applicable PCN or PDN and affected ordering codes
- Last-time-buy and shipment terms where relevant
- Customer approval for storage limits, lifetime buy or redesign
Practical recommendations
Maintain a dated lifecycle register for critical BOM lines. Reconfirm notices during quotation and before a lifetime-buy commitment. If a part is active but unavailable, describe it as a supply constraint. If discontinued, review source evidence and alternative evaluation separately. Avoid using a single inventory search as the lifecycle decision.
RFVero sourcing support
RFVero coordinates requirements, available manufacturer information, supplier questions and quotations. Offered source, packaging, batch evidence and delivery conditions are confirmed for each purchase. Customer engineering defines design approval and any external test scope; RFVero does not claim a laboratory or universal replacement compatibility.
Manufacturer references
Portfolio and documentation references checked 29 October 2026. These pages establish product context, not RFVero stock, authorisation or performance guarantees. Use the exact manufacturer datasheet revision and test conditions for technical approval.
