The purchasing problem
An RF BOM can contain several manufacturers, delivery dates and packaging formats. A single headline delivery date hides which line is actually blocking an assembly release.
What changes the requirement
Quote each approved BOM line using a full manufacturer part number, quantity and revision reference. Keep exact parts separate from alternative candidates. Transceivers, front-end ICs and frequency-generation devices should retain their own technical and evidence requirements.
Sourcing risks
Ambiguous quantities, duplicated base names and silent substitutions make multi-line quotes difficult to evaluate. Consolidation does not guarantee one source, one lot or simultaneous delivery. Split shipping and incomplete lines need explicit agreement.
Before requesting a quotation
- BOM file with full MPN, manufacturer and quantity per line
- Board revision and required build date
- Permitted partial supply and split-shipment instructions
- Packaging, lot and source-document needs per line
- Separate list of parts where alternatives may be considered
A practical procurement approach
Submit the approved BOM and mark critical lines. Request line-level status, offered packaging, reported lead time and unresolved questions. Decide whether to hold for consolidation or release approved lines separately. Keep the final accepted quote aligned with the BOM revision.
