Source LNAs against a defined receiver-chain requirement rather than a single noise-figure value.
What changes the requirement
Noise figure, gain, linearity and current depend on the specific device and test conditions. Input matching and losses ahead of the LNA affect system performance; chip-level figures do not directly describe the finished receiver.
Sourcing risks
Ranking LNAs by unmatched noise figures can hide frequency, bias and matching differences. A purchasing alternative needs a customer-approved review of stability, supply, interface and PCB implications.

A practical procurement approach
Start with the approved ordering code. When considering another part, maintain a difference checklist and ask the customer’s engineer to approve evaluation scope before buying production quantities. Preserve the manufacturer document revision and actual comparison conditions.
For an existing receiver, record the approved LNA and matching network together. Ask engineering to identify the comparison frequency, gain target and blocker conditions. Supply documents and label checks help purchasing; they cannot establish that a candidate will improve receiver sensitivity in the finished board.
